Cascade creates some of the most refreshing sounds I’ve ever heard to come out of Australia. Australia or anywhere else for that matter. The trio consists of John Uebel, Malcolm Barnett and Peter (Sid) Sinclair. They have a vibrant authentic cutting-edge folkrock and acoustic pop style, infectious upbeat melodies led by penetrating close-knit harmonies. Very skillful musicianship, typically in an acoustic setting, but also some rock tracks with electric guitar (like the excellent ‘Living In A Fallen World’). Decorated with tons of fancy flute work, bright and zesty with bongo percussion on ‘Danielle’, jazzing it up on ‘Born A Man’, echoing the melody with synthesizer for an unusual effect on ‘Sometimes I Feel I Could Say’. A couple great harmonica-backed folk-styled numbers in ‘Emmanuel’ and the energetic ‘The Room’. Closes with a beautiful acoustic ballad ‘A Taste Of Heaven (For Keith Gowan)’. Definitely worth searching for. (Ken Scott - Archivist)
