KATHARSIS....DRIVIN TOO FAST (1983)

This is one of my favorite Jesus rock albums from the 80's. Only six tracks on this mini LP, but where it lacks in size is made up for in sheer rock brilliance. The songs range from in your face funk rock with screaming guitars and vocoder effects in "DRIVIN TOO FAST"and Lots of wah-wah and fuzz galore in "NOT A CHANCE IN HELL". The third track "WRONG BAND" is a fast paced rock song and "THE EASIEST ANSWER" has a Jamaican rock feel to it with more great guitar work. The last two songs slow things down a little with "WITHIN THE WILD"which is a nice acoustic ballad with harmonizing vocals. Last, but not least is, "CLEAR DECEPTION", with it's light jazz rock style. Super production and musicianship throughout with great cover art. STUPENDOUS !

THE RIPPLE BAND...45

A fun and catchy jangle pop record. Other
wise I don't know anything about these guys
except for whats on the label.

NO OTHER NAME (1982)

This LP, being their second and final release, find the boys

changing from their folkrock style, to more of a new wave

direction. At times they sound like "New Order"or the "Pet Shop Boys"

with songs like, "Valley of Bones"and "Holocaust". Most of the

remaining tracks follow in this direction with the exception of

"Junk Blues" which is a fine blues rock tune and "I Will Give You Rest"

brings them back to their roots with a harmonica lead folkrock sound.

Their last song "Psalm 13" is sort of a progressive jazz song clocking

in at just under eight minutes. Great photo of the guys on the cover to.
